They met at the New England Conservatory and then made a U Turn to cover Youtube cover band extraordinary and last time I saw em they were wowing us at Town Hall as part of T Bone Burnett’s neo folk rave up. Lake Street Drive weren’t the best that night, that would be Gillian Welch, nor the second best (the award goes to Milk Carton Kids), but they were sure # 3. So say good goodbye to SummerStage for another year on Wednesday’s free show at Central Park and see if they’ve gotten even better.
Tuesday – 5 Seconds Of Summer – Jones Beach – These guys were always the boy band Blink 182, which means they actually bring the real live. Let’s see how well they do it on their sophomore effort.
Tuesday – The Vaccines – Rough Trade – A one hit wonder? Well, a one huge hit wonder so far but they are a lively live band and the new one is pretty OK.
Thursday – BUDDY HOLLY 79th Birthday Bash feat. THE RAVE-ONS – Incredible, he could very easily be still around with us.
Quiet week, but that’s the end of summer. Hang loose it will be heeating up soon.
