Good news for us Motorhead fans, Lemmy, who cut short a tour last year due to illness has apparently made a complete come back and is touring Europe this November which means the US can’t be that far away. Last year this announcement was released “As you may have heard, earlier this Spring Lemmy had some medical maintenance for the long-term good, He was, at that time, advised to rest, but once feeling better, he of course resumed his life as usual. He has since been advised that he should immediately take some more time to rest.” Given Kilmister’s toxic lifestyle, it is amazing he is back.
Motorhead opened for Black Sabbath in January and now it appears clear he is all the way back from the dead though to be honest the last time I saw Motorhead they didn’t sound all the way back from the dead, with a snooze of a set.
It is tough to drink like, well, like a drunk, nailing a coupla bottles of Black Jack Daniels and three packs of Marlboro Reds a day takes its toll. I know for sure, I’ve tried it. But master rock and roller has lived a life of rock and roll excess without the grotesqueness very often associated with the life of a rock star. He remained proletariat in the extreme which is one reason punk embraced him while they certainly didn’t embrace Ozzy Osbourne.
The whole thing about Motorhead is they are the most perfect, almost like Ramones perfect, of products: loud fast electric riffs; it is metal stripped bare of all pretension. And because of that Motorhead remain one of the most beloved bands of all times, welcome back Lemmy.
