Sure I love Bjork. The last time I saw her, that Roseland gig, still leaves me with good feelings for the Icelandic experimental sugarcuber. And since she lives in Brooklyn now, that is just a reason to love her more.
BUT if that isn’t enough for you, well here is another reason. She has recreated her album covers from Lego pieces here and they came out so enticingly sweet and good natured I think we can all be forgiven for brimming over with pleasure. I like a lot of things about Bjork but what I really really really like is how playful she is. Whether geeking out on apps or places schools for young children, or giggling like a school girl or changing the face of pop, she is consistently as interesting as a pop performer can.
That’s why these lego works are more fun than the Beatle ones, it is because they are presented as more fun. It is because there is a connection in the playfulness, the childlike wonder at the heart of Bjork’s artisty.
