Here is some piece of news which is gonna make Iman very happy: Laura Marling has announced a new album and she has even shared the title track, ‘Short Movie’ on YouTube. She is a very prolific girl, as this is already  her 5th studio album while she is what,… still a baby? She even produced the album herself with the help of drummer Matt Ingram and studio engineer Dan Cox.

The song is a rather long one, slowly waken up, done in a very folky and galloping-guitar style with Laura’s clear voice going from her typical high-pitched ethereal voice to close-to-spoken-words in the same line. She is really unleashing a fierce emotion in ‘Short Movie’, with rage and passion, then eventually a lot is going on at the same time on this track, before everything culminates into a duel between Laura’s voice, strumming electric guitars and ascending strings… is it a bit more epic, bombastic than what she previously did? Certainly, so it may not be exactly intimate acoustic guitar lovers’ thing, but that’s what Los Angeles (where she now lives) does to you!

‘I realized that I hadn’t been in a place for longer than two or three weeks since I was 16’, she explained to Vents magazine about her choice to stay in LA, ‘I thought: ‘I wonder what will happen if I try and root myself somewhere [and] look back over the past eight years.’’ Laura was even thinking about leaving music, settling in LA as a yoga instructor, and becoming anonymous:

‘Not that I’m a somebody somewhere else, but I’m very much not a somebody here,’ she continued. ‘And for six months when people asked me what I did I would tell them something else. And it was nice. It was hard, but it was good. And I had nothing, I had to go on actually who I am — which I haven’t had to do for a long time, since I was 16.’

Fortunately, Laura went back to music and here it is another album! The video for the track, created by London design and motion studio Art & Graft, shows a horse galloping in the desert, suiting the mood of the music.
