The Body – Wale – Jeremih makes Miguel look like Marvin Gaye and this song makes Wale look like Wale and my point is that after pretty good hour of music, this is too ordinary to close it out with – C
Blue Bucket Of Gold – Sufjan Stevens – It sounds haunted by its own dreams, as though the song is ready to turn its back on the past but can’t figure out where to go to. Very sad, very sorrowful, no bang, no escape from it – A
Spend The Night – The Sonics – Beautiful garage rock, timeless stuff, a great raver with a Kinks riff to take you out – B+
Let Love Lead – Ringo Starr – I don’t how this really helps, I mean, what in practical terms does it mean to let love lead? Ah, who cares – B
Wall Of Death – The Prodigy – People who don’t like this don’t like the Prodigy and there are a lot of them who don’t. Me? I like em – B
Dark End Of The Street – Marching Churches – It doesn’t quite work, this semi-improvised live performing to half formed songs, but even so a track like this has a forceful concentration and here a quiet fierceness – B
Only Way Out – Madeon – Sounds an awful lot like prog rock – C+
This Has Been My World – Ludacris – Ho hum, “I think i’ve got the best job in the world because I don’t have to take a piss take…” Gimme a break – C-
Nobody Wins – Jodeci – Another winner – B+
Piggies – Jerry Paper – This is the least melodic song on the album, a touch too arty for my tastes – C+
Save Me – Hollywood Undead – There is a market for this you know, but when I say rock is dead I mean rock is undead – D+
It’s All Over – Darius Rucker – Not bad, but not very good either. Professional songwriting, country folks should cover him… often… – B-
Binary Sea – Death Cab For Cuties – On one side you lost Zooey and are making us all suffer along with you, on the other this is a gorgeous song – B+
