Kenny G Angers China And Turns To Be A Coward

Kenny G in China

Kenny G is controversial? We may have reached the bottom of irony when a totally harmful flute player like him (or is that a saxophone? I have never paid attention, and by harmful I mean insignificant of course) finds himself in the middle of a controversy! Or may be that says a lot about the present Chinese government…

You may have heard about the pro-democracy protests currently going on in Hong Kong, and Kenny G dared to show some ‘support’ for the freedom movement on Twitter:

‘in Hong Kong at the sight of the demonstration. I wish everyone a peaceful and positive conclusion to this situation pic.twitter.com/mEp5jIXLjj

Okay, nothing too heated, and certainly not something very controversial, he was not even siding with the protestors in this tweet! But it nevertheless didn’t please the Chinese government at all, which held a press conference, no less, reminding ‘foreign governments and individuals’ to ‘speak and act cautiously and not support [Hong Kong’s] Occupy Central and other illegal activities in any form’. What? Are Chinese officials even crazier than I thought? Probably!

You have to know that Kenny G is huge in China (why am I not surprised?) and that his tweet was probably spotted right away, but honestly, he was just wishing peace for everyone, not fueling the revolution,… as he should have done! According to CNN he has now deleted the picture above showing him in the middle of protestors’ tents and wrote on social media:

‘I am not supporting the demonstrators.’

“I was not trying to defy government orders with my last post, I don’t really know anything about the situation and my impromptu visit to the site was just part of an innocent walk around Hong Kong.’

After reading this, I am not sure whom I despise the most, the Chinese government or Kenny G? You tell me… is he a coward preserving his Chinese fan base or an idiot, or both? Not only he has made shitty music for empty elevators and crowded malls for decades but he proved to be is a complete wimp much more interested by his income than people’s freedom… everything about him and his music is dull and gutless.

‘Please don’t mistake my peace sign for any other sign [than] a sign for peace’…. he added. Oh yeah, and please don’t mistake his crappy music for jazz.
