It was a day like any other in the worl of rock nyc, August 24th, 2010, everything is where it was only one thing was different and this was that: Katy Perry was inches away from being the biggest star on earth. Did she sustain it? well, no, actually, she didn’t. and by 2013 it was over an she was just another superstar.

But that August day, Katy released Teenage Dreams and the world tilted on its access and Katy released an incredible FIVE hit songs and you know what, five years later it still sounds great.  “California Gurls,”Teenage Dreams”, “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” were all # 1 hit singles and the rest of the album seemed in formation around them, incluing the dirty mined “Peacock” and the lachyrmose heartbreaker “The One That Got Away”.

I loved it at the time and I love it now, maybe more. It is part of a future we haven’t quite reached: pop hasn’t ite figured out what to do with EDM. It lacks a certain depth of emotion and so does this, but Teenage Dream, even so, manages a complete pop excellence an it is Dr, Luke’s crowning achievement.

For the week Of March 14th, 2015, Teenage Dreams will have spent 200 weeks amongst the top 200 albums and listening to it toay, it is still a blast, still huge amounts of fun (the concert was great as well).
