Apparently she is none to happy with Main Man Records for the tribute to The Runaways.
Jett, the singer-guitarist and 1970s band mate Cherie Currie sued in New York on Thursday to stop the June 28 release of "Take It or Leave It: A Tribute to the Queens of Noise," an intended homage to their punk band, the Runaways.
Were they not getting a cut?
Main Man Records used their names to promote the album without their say-so and that a Main Man staffer who once worked at Jett's record label implied the project had her blessing. "Implied her blessing"?
Seems a bit sour grapes and to be quite honest with you who the hell cares- its a pretty cool idea. Could it be that Joan and Currie were looking to get some press? I suppose they're concerned about royalties but to outright sue is a pretty lame move.
'Take It Or Leave It', a 2-disc tribute to The Runaways featuring The Dandy Warhols, The Donnas, Care Bears on Fire, David Johansen, Shonen Knife, Peaches and more, is scheduled to be released on June 28th lets hope the ladies don't get their way and halt its release cuz all of a sudden I want a copy of it and I mean now.
There weren't many more details then this available and its really pathetically lame. Bands should be able to tribute anyone they please and there were no 'implied blessings' on any of the press items I read on the release.
Get over yourselves you're coming across as bitter old women.
