John Varvatos is an American designer who housed his high priced line in the shell of CBGBs. I’m not sure why he chose that for his uber metro sexual wear but some find it ‘tasteful’ tribute to the rock club that changed the world.
He does tend to cater to the wanna be rocker boy with a wad of cash and a $500 haircut. So how wonderful he opted to use Jimmy Page in his latest promotions. Page the two time rock and roll hall of famer (for the Yardbirds and Led Zep) look right at home in those fancy duds and black and white photography.
In this campaign he is paired with Austin TX son Gary Clarke Jr who the New York Times calls ‘the next Hendrix’, no pressure there.
"Jimmy Page has been a music and fashion icon of mine since 1970. He has been a major influence and I am honored to call Jimmy a friend," says designer John Varvatos. "Gary Clark Jr. is the real deal – amazing guitar player, singer, songwriter and friend. Having 'The Master' and the 'Young Guitar-Slinger' together in our campaign is a dream come true."
This isn’t the first (nor will it be the last) time John Varvatos dips in to the jukebox for models his past posers include Paul Weller and Miles Kane, Green Day, Franz Ferdinand, Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Chris Cornell, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Ryan Adams, Slash
