Jason Aldean Sells Our MSG In Ten Minutes: Does That Make Him A Must See?

New R&B boys are as miserable as  any middle class looking to rebel on a bottle of NyQuil and too mny Daddy, not to mention Vibe issues. It is all a little dreary for my tastes and while New Country isn't as dreary it is irritating enough. One half the two boys and a girl vocal harmony pop pulp pab bands and the other half the twenty something bad boys in tight jeans and pickup trucks

Me, I don’t put that much truck in anyof the above, for every “Adorn”, “Thinkin’ About You” or, heaven knows “Jack Daniels” (to mix metphors) there is a thousand “Dirt Road Anthem” –an iffy lttle country rave up plus, ahem, rap. The future of country is a dirt bike on a long rode rah rah rah. Jason Aldean, if he didn’t exist, well, if he didn’t exist nobody would notice.

So why to see him when he plays at MSG March 2nd, 2013?

Jason’s fans will go because, well, that’s what fans do, but what about normal folks? I will go because I care about country when it is healthy and I care about country when it is ill and if this guy is a poster child for what country music means in 2013 the way Reba McIntire was for country in 1985. Than I wanna check it out. I wanna see why such completely insipid country has so many fans. And when I say insipid I mean that it lacks any flavor. It is bland and formless: it’s like babies food.

And MSG is a good place to see big country, Keith Urban once played a great set at this very venue and so did Dierks Berkley (Brad Paisley kinda blew it…) so I guess I’ll be there.maybe you should as well. Also, it is a good opportunity for the country faithful to show their colors though I’ve lost all faith in New York country fans ever since they failed to sell out carngeie Hall for George Jones.

Still if country fans failed to turn up for the greatest of them all, the dull as ditch water Alean sold out the venue in ten minutes.”I think people underestimate country music's popularity in New York City. The Garden is one of those places every artist dreams of playing. I am blown away that my show sold out that quickly. … It makes me even more excited to hit rehearsals this month and get the Night Train Tour on the road. I can't wait to see you, New York ‘ So says Aldean, and I’ll be there to find out why.
