Have you heard the news? Jay Z and Beyoncé want to go vegan for 22 days!! This is what he wrote on his Jay Z ‘Life and Times’:
‘Psychologists have said it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. On the 22nd day, you’ve found the way.
On December 3rd, one day before my 44th birthday I will embark on a 22 Days challenge to go completely vegan, or as I prefer to call it, plant-based!! This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a “plant-based breakfast” everyday. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought…
Why now? There’s something spiritual to me about it being my 44th birthday and the serendipity behind the number of days in this challenge; 22 (2+2=4) coupled with the fact that the challenge ends on Christmas day…It just feels right!
So you can call it a spiritual and physical cleanse. I will post my progress… Any professional vegans out there that have any great food spots please help out! Please ha. I don’t know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We’ll see…
Best of luck and health!
P.S. B is also joining me.
I will let my friend Marco explain the benefits of a plant based diet here.’
Now if I applaud people renouncing meat, I certainly hope it will not just be a 22-day challenge. If he goes back to meaty diet after this ‘challenge’, I will say this was only good for publicity, as almost everything Jay Z does?
Plus, I can’t stop laughing at what surrounds Jay Z’s decision,… the serendipity of the numbers,… 22 is twice his age so it’s the right moment? Give me a break, this is so stupid, the universe doesn’t revolve around yourself Jay Z! Plus the term spiritual is so pretentious and self-important, I have been vegetarian for 30 years and there’s nothing spiritual about it, it’s a decision, part rational, but overall very emotional like any of our decisions! The term spiritual had such a bad connotation for me as people put so much behind the term. Jay Z, you aren’t going to find God or Buddha or achieve a higher level of consciousness when turning vegan, you are just going to be healthier and do something very good for the earth. So drop the useless philosophy and stick to your new diet for life.
