I had no idea thatIncubus guitarist Michael Einziger was really into science. He was a student at Harvard University in 2008-2011, has studied history and philosophy of physics and he has even contributed to an article on the topic of human evolution. But he has especially a profound interest in physical sciences – he even took a personal tour of the Hadron Collider in Geneva, and invited Dr. Cox to appear as a speaker at his concert. I suppose that Incubus fans must all have a degree in physics or something because this can go very deep, he composed a piece called ‘Forced Curvature of Reflective Surfaces’, inspired by the physical appearance of Frank Gehry’s Concert Hall and quantum mechanics.
So no surprise that Incubus, want to send some of their fans into space! The band Linkin Park is also part of the new project Ticket to Rise, launched by Vice’s Motherboard and The Urgency Network. By donating to many charities, watching and sharing awareness videos, inviting friends, volunteering and signing petitions, you will be able to earn entry, and the more actions you will be able to do the more entries you will earn. For every $1 million raised by July 21st a ticket will be unlocked. One winner will be randomly selected and sent to space on the XCOR Lynx Mark II spacecraft! Many charities are involved such as Incubus’ Make Yourself Foundation, Linkin Park’s Music For Relief, but also Surfrider Foundation, Heal The Bay, David Lynch Foundation, Oxfam, PETA, Teen Cancer America, WhyHunger… and even other ones are participating. To increase your chance to win, Incubus’ Make Yourself Foundation is even offering a free entry via radio station KROQ,… If you are really into this kind of adventure, just go UrgencyNetwork.com/kroq and enter the promo code KROQ to get started.
If you don’t win the trip into the stratosphere, you can always pick other rewards such as concert tickets, gift cards, merchandise & memorabilia,… Personally, I will stay with this kind of stuff, I actually feel like a chicken and would not be ready to go to such an unearthly destination, give me a ticket concert any time instead.
