September 26th, mark the date on your calender and singalong a bass line because the realest is playing her first post superstardom concert in nyc on that day at JBL Live on Pier 97 on the Hudson River Park. I haven’t been to JBL but my gut is that it really sucks; i can’t beieve it will have any sightlines at all.
But, at $61, it is worth it to watch the hottest girl rapper in the world today (hotter than Minaj? Well, certainly whiter than minaj. And while I wasn’t crazy about The New Classic, I didn’t hate it either. Iggy’s problem is that while Nicki has proven her chops with the big boys, Kanye, Jay Z, Rick Ross so we know she can do it and leave her alone to go for the bucks, we know nothing of the sort with.
Iggy isn’t bad but she is a rap star not a pop star and she has proven she can sit at the adults table the way contemporary Lorde did with “Royals”. if your idea of stretching is working with rita Ora you’ve still got a way to go.
Still, if you’ve never seen Iggy this isn’t a bad place to start. I saw fun. at T5 a couple of years ago as they just broke pop and man was the buzz around the show intoxicating. After awhile, a band gets used to the big bang of people knowing all the words to all your songs and ceases to be this amazing moment in time. And then? And then the buzz wears off.
On Friday September 26th, Iggy will be buzzed out of her skull, so how can you resist cheking it out?
