Pinnochio is the Kanye West of Disney toons

1. When you Wish Upon A Star – Cliff Edwards – Disney’s finest music moment from one of their signature achievements, the sound of your conscience, yes, of course, but also the sound of our deepest wishes. All in a crickets chirp. Astounding – A+

2. Heartbreaker – Motorhead – The astounding thing isn’t that it is great, the astounding thing is that it is just about as great as anything else they’ve done. A roar of pure rock and roll – A

3. Can’t Tell Me Nothing – Kanye West – If he records a live album after this tour, it will be so we can hear this song remixed to levels of hip hop perfection – A

4. Birthday – Katy Perry – Terrific dance pop blast of energy, maybe the second best on Prism – A-

5. Queen Of New York – SHINee –It has a real r&b twist to r&b and is a fine expression of how real a phenomenon K-Pop is, even if it only catches on with the couple of billion folks in Asia – B+

6. Your Jealousy – Shonna Tucker And Eye Candy – Mike Holcomb: “Clay Leverett, who drummed on three Bright Eyes records and filled in for Maria on the Cassadega tour is my next-door neighbor. As you saw in my pics, he’s playing with Shonna Tucker now and they’ve made…in my opinion…a record that’s right up there with Isbell’s as the alt-country/Americana record of the year.” – A-

7. This Lonely Morning – Best Coast – Written in five minutes but built to last, a lovely track off a super fine EP – A-

8. Neon Poles – JD Samson And Men – This is a really great dance track, it thumps beautifully all the way through it plus their PR person Inge, I’ve known for years now and she put me on guest lists back when nobody woud answer my phone calls – A

9. Tiff – Polica with Justin Vernon – Great vocals, very nice with Vernon deep in the background. The song isn’t all that – B-

10. I Know – Fiona Apple – A goodie off Pawn and looking at the current setlist, I wish there were more of them – B+
