"Don't Bother With The Local Girls", "Mercury Poisoning" are just a couple tunes you may remember from Graham Parker & The Rumour. He hit my radar at the same time as a boatload of other 'nerd' bands and well he pretty much didn't make the cut.
Listening now what a strong disservice to myself! Parker has a great voice and some of the quirkiest lyrics ever. 'Back in The Day', there was just too much going on to catch it all so that is why I am going to approve of this tour when generally I would shun the geezers on parade.
I gotta warn you- Graham is looking sort of gnome but the good news is he sounds fantastic. The band, same thing worn trousers but still a great sound that makes me really want to cheer them on. They were recently on Conan and well see for yourself below. Not too shabby.
The Rumour remains true to its roots, fielding the same lineup that backed Parker all those years ago with Brinsley Schwarz and Martin Belmont on guitars, keyboardist Bob Andrews, bassist Andrew Bodnar and Stephen Goulding on drums. The venues below both Stage One and The Met are incredibly small
