Girls has released a video for their single ‘Vomit’, the first video from their upcoming album ‘Father, Son, Holy Ghost’, out September 13. Strangely, it first looks like an ad for a red vintage Ford convertible mustang, as the first minute of the video only shows the beautiful car. There are also mysterious images of red roses on the white leather seats and some adventures in San Francisco streets by night during these psychedelic-operatic-rock choruses. I still don’t see the connection with the title, but the lyrics ‘nights I spend alone/ I spend 'em runnin' 'round lookin' for you, baby/lookin' for love’ have to go directly to this awesome car! Ha! The delightful loneliness of driving alone in a car!
According to Matador records, the video was directed by Austin Rhodes of Heist Projects, with an assist from Matthew Kelleher and his 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible
We hardly see the face of singer Chris Owens, since it’s all about this 1966 Mustang, but they may be playing a clever trick, they are using a car before dealers use their song in an ad as it has happened so many times for indie bands. Not a bad choice for the car!
