Alfalfa of the infamous Our Gang / Little Rascals series had no last name. I didn't realize that until I went to research Carl Switzer who played the slicked back stud.
Alfalfa was the king of the neighborhood. Every kid thought this kid had golden pipes. They stopped and smiled and jaw dropped at his talent and as his voice strained and cracked sang out a tune, the passion burned inside, for his one true love.
Darla
That cutie with the chubby legs and party dresses was the town hottie.
But who scored the dame?
The crooner.
A man who will belt out a song filled with passion and love and conviction over rides diamonds and boats and penthouses. Men don't get to be vulnerable too often. Lay it on the line so to speak but Alfalfa, that boy had the magic.
See its not the pitch or the memento, ohh no no no, its the passion. I just adore this video where Darla gives him 'the wink'. I feel sort of bad for the other gal, and what's with her giant Bo Peep suit?
Anyway, boys if you want to win a Darla- ya gotta sing it like Alfalfa.
