G. Finale is a ready for his close up. Around since 2009, he has been a name to drop for lovers of mainstream pop chart staring hip hop 2014. G. Finale has worked with the likes of Common and impressed uber-rap legend Kurtis Blow who told G. “You got it! I haven’t seen someone who possesses that star power in a long time.”
But despite an EP, and despite MTV Artists involvement, he has been just under the radar… till now. With a new EP in the pipeline and a new song just dropped, “Only Care About Me”, G. Finale is getting the recognition he has been waiting. “OCAM” is a spectacular rap parody, checking out everybody from 2Pac to Jay Z with a central backing track so hooky it is all over the song: maybe six notes on a loop but it is pure ear candy.
Produced by Golden Boy, a member of Tomas Doncker’s True Groove family, the 22 year old has made the sort of sound that is gonna be in great demand from huge rap stars everywhere. While G. Finale is a little old school, placing himself among the biggest names and really a child of Puff Daddy and with an extended Jay Z verse, Golden Boy is a 22 year old who seems completely at ease with this extremely poppy sound.
Golden Boy is a childhood friend of True Groove singer Lael Summer from South Orange, New Jersey. He began music production at the age of 17 when he was just dabbling on Garageband with a friend of his as he made Youtube videos In February he won the Standard Producer Showcase and was just recently asked to come back as a featured producer Influences: Boi-1da, Noah “40,” The Renegades, Ryan Leslie, Hit-Boy, and Cool and Dre.
I got most of that from his Press release but one thing it does say I can completely agree with is its claim of versatility. It feels like so many idea are flowing through the track and it should get him notice and fast.
