Four Year Strong released a new song called “Tread Lightly” and I absolutely love it. I’ve always thought they were a great band, even my mom and dad like them, but this is a new step in a great direction.
They kept their classic pop punk sound, and their noise rock quality. It really sounds like old FYS, and I’m so happy they didn’t change direction. It’s fast and intense and a lot to take in but definitely pumps you up. It sounds aggressive and passionate and it shows that they’ve stepped up their game. There’s so much energy and when it breaks down and slows down, there’s a calm before and after the storm. It’s composed so well and makes me wanna get up and flip desks.
I love how loud and crazy the song is, and how its structure is never too out of whack. They were adventurous with it and it payed off because bands who try to be adventurous and aren’t experienced end up sounding like a mish mosh of annoying sound. I could really see them opening up with this track when they play Warped Tour this summer because it’ll definitely get the crowd going.
The tune is off their upcoming EP, “Go Down In History”, due out on July 22nd. The five-track EP sounds like it’s going to be their best release yet. Here’s the track listing.
01. What’s In The Box?
02. Living Proof Of A Stubborn Youth
03. Tread Lightly
04. Go Down In History
05. So You’re Saying There’s A Chance…
