Foster the People may be one of the most talked about falsely-Indie-bands of the moment – Neil Young dropped their name during his Twitter session when he was asked about new bands he liked, and they hang out with Bono – but this doesn’t mean they are the darlings everywhere.
Mark Foster was ejected from a LA club on Thursday night for using his cell phone during a Prince concert? First of all, there was a Prince concert and I didn’t know about it? Yes, it was a private thing, past midnight at the Sayers Club, a 200-capacity venue in Hollywood. Prince ‘s protégé Andy Allo opened with her single ‘People Pleaser’, produced by, of course, Prince, and the Purple one, all dressed in black, played a fantastic set with his ‘TMP’ (Too Many People) band consisting of 11 horn players, 2 keyboardists, 2 back up singers, 2 drummers, 2 guitarists, a bassist and a dancer! What is this place? The Hollywood Bowl? Prince played a few of his greatest hits as well as his new ‘Rock & Roll Love Affair. Whatever, Prince does not allow pictures, at. all. we know that! But TMZ caught Mark Foster arguing with a security guard for a few minutes, trying to explain himself with a few sentences such as, ‘I wasn’t taking pictures’, and ‘I’m a musician, I understand’, and ‘I am from Foster the People’, whereas the guard told him first to ‘go home’ and finally let him in again.
What is this story telling us?
– That Prince is still a total control freak asshole living in the 19th century – I just wonder how long he will be able to pretend that technology does not exist and how long he will be able to forbid pictures! He just should team up with Jack White and form a diva only club.
– That being a semi-famous musician greatly helps, I am certain I would not have been admitted in this club again!
– That semi-famous musicians do not hesitate not only to use their name but also to schmooze to get the good grace of a guard,… what is this I’m-a-musician-I-understand-business? Doesn’t Foster the People allow pictures? I guess they do, so why did he say this?
Mark Foster said to TMZ that it was a big misunderstanding, that he was simply checking a text message… totally wiling to accept what had happened. Yeah he wouldn’t take the risk to be ostracized by his purple majesty!
