Forever The Sickest Kids are one of the bands that remind me of cotton candy. They're not going to fill you up in any way and they have no real value but they are so addictive and so fun that you just plain don't care. I loved them when we met up earlier this year and I love their energy live. In all sincerity if you have an opportunity to see these guys live do so-they're not just performing shows they're oozing energy that even gets a jaded rocker such as myself fired up for fun.
They have just released a new song entitled "Shut The Front Door (Too Young For This)", according to video comments it's not being well loved. What I think is happening here is we have fans who can't accept growth. It's a tough situation when you're a 20 something band and your fans are in high school, you grow up but they're still picking prom dresses and posing in bathroom mirrors with duck lips. It's okay though, they'll eventually grow up too.
The song is not a huge departure for the band, it's a bit more thought provoking than others. Perhaps it's more mint gum than cottom candy, now. That's okay though, it's important to evolve or you end up on constant repeat-sorta like most other pop punk bands out there. I won't say that I am a huge fan of the song-which I find somewhat repetitive but I can honestly say FTSK is getting stronger despite recent personal changes. Not a bad thing-not a great thing, but a slow and steady progression that is actually somewhat refreshing. So many bands crash and burn-FTSK has some longevity and this song is a great step along the way.
