It’s been a long time coming but Thursday night in Melbourne, the lucky fans out there got a new song, an astounding and disturbing and essential drums and bass and special effects, which sounds like a mere shadow of itself. All you can here is discombulaion and disembodiment like the entire is coming from somewhere else entirely.
People don’t drop her name often enough but something about the clink clank mied with the heaviest of beats (not dub step, trip hop) reminds me of Portishead meets M.I.A. I really like FKA twigs, she isn’t like most people, there is soemthing about her sound that is hot and cold at the same time.
By the way, I really like the UK music website Gigwise and use their newspaper stories all the time, I got this one frm them, so far be it for me to mock the afflicted… HOWEVER… this review of the track is hysterical, it is like the Super Bowl of beat cliches: “the new track is a skittering, skeletal and embryonic number, with minimal beats underlying a haze of synths, jarring sounds and Twigs’ skyward ghostly vocals”. Remember folks, as soon as a track starts skittering it is time to reach for your gun.
