Fall Out Boy Giving Concert Proceeds To Boston Bombing Victims

Just over 100 people were injured on Patriots Day in Boston on Monday April 15th.  Two bombs were detonated sending metal debris into a crowd assembled near the finish line of the infamous city marathon.   Crazy stuff that caused just three deaths.

The moment the smoke rose the fundraising began.  The ribbon color was chosen (who picks that by the way?  Wear purple for Boston, wear Green for Sandy Hook, . hey tomorrow wear black for Rocknyc)  But the people must feel useful in helpless situations. As evident in the Sandy Hook outpouring, no one really knows what to do with all that stuff.  They're turning all those memorials into the soil on the site of the former Sandy Hook Elementary school.  I mean you can throw shit out, it would be rude- but how many scruffy teddy bears can one handle?

Fall Out Boy is playing Bostons House of Blues on May 25th.  This 'will call' only show sold out in seconds and scalpers didn't have a chance.  Show ID or get the hell out of here.  A nice idea for the FOB boys a logistical nightmare for others.  They will also be playing the Tsongas Center in Lowell on September 6th.  Your basic stadium show, they have chosen this larger venue as their fundraiser.  Word comes now that they will donate a portion to the Boston shooting  victims.  For the record its not a massacre if only three died- so can everyone stop calling it that please?

What will the money be used for?  Rehab?  Medical expenses? Psychological services?  There is never an itemized offering of what these donations go to.  But it makes the band feel good and it makes the fans shrug cuz they get to see the band just the same.

Heres the statement

As you guys all know we've been beyond excited for today to come and normally this would be a day of celebration with the release of our new album," reads the statement, referencing the fact that their comeback album, Save Rock and Roll, is scheduled to be released yesterday (April 16).

"In light of the events in Boston yesterday we'd like to send our thoughts and prayers to the victims and everyone affected. We'll be donating the proceeds from our upcoming Boston show from the fall tour at Tsongas Arena to the victims. Hopefully these songs will make some people feel better today. We are Americans, this affects us all."
