People got always upset for the wrong reasons, ridiculous reasons like this one: the band Explosions in the Sky will play in Boise Idaho on September 11th, and a picture of the sign at the Egyptian theater in Boise advertising the concert has ended up on the NBC New York website, with an article saying it was ‘a poorly timed concert’, reminding us how many people were still suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from the attack that killed more than 2,700 people!
People should stop seeing signs everywhere, the band was not connected to the attack, they are not terrorists, so this should not be an issue! They are in the middle of a tour and have a date on September 11th, what’s the problem?
‘I think it's unfortunate that the band is being equated with the tragic events of 9/11 in 2001’, said Joy Hart, the booking manager at the Egyptian Theatre, to NBC station KTVB.
‘It is absolutely a coincidence, it's very typical that we get big concerts coming through here on Sunday nights.’
‘It's unfortunate that this band has to be equated to those events. They formed in 1999 and I'm sure this is something that they deal with on an ongoing basis’.
Exactly, she is right, it is a coincidence, something that happens very often. And she added that they have not had any complaints, so why the big fuss NBC New York?
But they go on with their ‘signs’ obsession, pointing out that the band had already to deal with 9/11 questions because of the artwork of their 2001 album ‘Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever’, that was showing a drawing of a plane shining a light on an angel, and was including a liner note with the powerful sentence: ‘this plane will crash tomorrow’. Guitarist Michael James was even detained at an airport because his guitar case had a sticker with the same sentence. Ha! Since the album was released a few months before the terrorist attack, does this mean they had predicted it?? Again,… ridiculous.
Go see Explosions in the Sky live, especially if you are in Boise! I will try to catch them at the FYF Fest in September. At least, they are not playing in New York at this infamous date….
