Warped Tour 2014 was not that great of an experience, simply because I’ve grown out of it. However, I was glad I could catch Every Time I Die’s set, because though I’m not one for hardcore music, they’re really impressive and huge in the scene. They recently released their latest album, “From Parts Unknown”, and used Warped to incorporate some songs off it into their setlist.

Vocalist Keith Buckley was energetic and definitely stole the show. While it’s no surprise here that the sound at Warped freakin’ sucks and you can barely make out anything, while I was up front shooting, I could hear that his voice still remains the band’s strong suit. It’s unique and has a lovely tone to it, even when he’s screaming. The absolute power behind the vocals not only amplifies the intensity of the music, but is also just incredible in general.

“Ebolarama” was particularly good, with the guitars sounding sharp, the bass underlining the intensity, and the drums providing the kicking backbone. It was pretty interesting to see the crowd’s reaction as well, because there was quite the circle pit going on. I know that there’s no moshing at Warped now, but no one seemed to enforce that rule throughout the entire day..what was the deal there?

Every Time I Die deserves to be playing better shows than Warped. They didn’t have nearly enough people watching their set, which was disappointing, because they truly gave it their all. Warped is taxing and exhausting, and the guys in ETID didn’t miss a beat. Be sure to catch them at your Warped date, and check out their new album.
