When I think about Eminem, and it doesn’t happen very often, I think anger with a capital A. Has this guy even smiled once in his life? Anyway the Independent is reporting that the rapper told the Los Angeles radio station Power 106 that he almost wrote a song to attack Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Drake! Now this would have been funny, but why all that anger against his peers? This is what he said on the airwaves:
‘For that time period when I was away, I was watching what was going on in the game. Anything that was hot at that moment, anybody that was really killing shit’
‘I felt so bad about myself and the music that I was creating, I felt I was starting to turn into a hater. Singling Kanye and Wayne out at that time period, they were the ones killing it the most to me and it hurt. I’d pop a CD in and be like ‘fuck man, I’m not doing this no more’.’
‘When I was away’ refers to the period when Eminem wasn’t that well, almost ending his career between the albums ‘Encore’ (2004) and ‘Relapse’ (2009); he even called a New York radio station in 2007, declaring he was ‘in limbo’ and ‘debating’ about when and if he would release another album! So because these other rappers were ‘killing it’, Eminem got super jealous and wanted to write a song ‘dissing everybody’, but alas he never did it, as this would have been a ‘career suicide’.
‘There were times that it didn’t feel good to be me, I think deep down I just wasn’t happy with myself, man, you know?’ he continued, ‘There were some really dark moments in there, when I think about my thought processes when I was a high a lot. It wasn’t good and it certainly wasn’t me. I’m not even that sort of person.’
Too bad he isn’t, I actually don’t know who Eminem is exactly,… angry? Jealous? Rihanna tour-mate? But I would have actually listened to a rap song which disses Kanye, may be Eminem would have used that f-word he is famous for. Then Kanye, Lil Wayne and Drake would have been totally pissed off and only the god of rap knows what this would have led to! A rap war? A fight? However, doesn’t Eminem call Kim Kardashian a man and her sister the ugly one in some of his songs? So in a way, the deed is done.
