This isn’t new. But it is one of the most adorable things I have seen. I saw it forever ago but just recently it popped back up and my enthusiasm can not be contained.
Though the odd lip sync and the nasal pitch intro is a bit off putting, seeing Elmo so dressed as a Costello clone is just heart melting. Elvis Costello has twin boys with wife Diana Kraul- how lovely…
My thought is this is a little daddy magic for his boys. Again, can Elvis Costello be more awkward? The tune tells the story of how Cookie Monster eats Costello’s red 2, thus making it impossible for him to count to ten. Set to the tune of “(The Angels Want To Wear My) Red Shoes”, its a perfect pairing for an adorable video.
There have been (and continue to be!) many pop and rock stars who do time with the Muppets. Some great- some a drag. N’Sync were another fabulous pairing. But there is nothing that can equal the old man and the red monster wearing fedoras… nothing.
The Muppets hold a very special place in my heart. Hell, I grew up wiht them and I force fed them to my own kid. To see these two icons of young and old (Elmo wasn’t around when I was a kid- he’s a newer muppet) just makes my day. Have I shared this before? Maybe, but it is worth showing again- it’s that cool.
