Drake At Governors Ball, Friday, June 5th, 2015, Review

11393198_10153352149410761_9097206419750374829_nMy third Drake sighting in two years and except for an off night at Barclay Center, the man is everything he should be on stage, a stalking, swaggering brooding King Lear-y man with a turntable (that’s a joke) and a drummer (that isn’t), he was a spectacular and dramatic sight.

In a first, the Canadian master had a sign language interpreter on stage with him as he made a dash through the heart of the set, “Worst Behavior: through “Hell Ya Fucking Right” with “Tuesday” on one end and “Started From The Bottom” on the other and right in the middle his masterpiece “Hold On, We’re Coming On” and right here Governors Ball came into its own.

Drake promised us Jay Z, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, and Veyonce, we got none and really at this time in his career we didn’t need them. A terrific set, sharp, enjoyable, straight forward, everything you could ask for.

Grade: A
