Mike Hranica is an OK dude Having witnessed the interview Mary Magpie did at Warped Tour 2011 I can attest that he is an intelligent and articulate guy. Haters gonna hate though and his latest project, a work of non fiction, is calling out the venom of those who find DWP a wimpy poser metal band.
The hard rock world is a tough crowd. Everyone has an opinion and all are very valid. The purist hate anything new or evolved- if it aint Black Sabbath it’s crap. Add the Christian element and you have open season on slander. But when all is said and done The Devil Wears Prada is a great band, this a message that you can easily ignore. Nothing is being jammed down you’re throat but the music is solid enough to stand on its own.
Mike Hranica has branched out from singer to writer penning his first book “Home For Grave” In an exclusive Q&A with Billboard, discussing the tragedy of routine in everyday life and the inspiration behind his new literary work. ‘Home for Grave’ tells the tale of Ian Mitchells and his journey from birth to death, exploring the empty existence of the normal man. Sounds heavy.
The 53 page book (that’s a very short short story) is limited to 1818 (how appropriate as its the DWP album title) copies and there is a bundle for $25 that gets you a t-shirt and gets your book autographed.
I have no idea what this video means but hey– they felt it compelling enough to put on the books website.
