Crazy? The word is weak, this is a 7-minute journey in the darkest corners of the soul, a long throbbing nightmarish vision of debauchery, of…. What exactly? I am not sure, as usual, words fail at describing Lynch’s work, but the guy sure dares it all, with people randomly doing all kind of weird things to each other. Just tell me in which backyard you can see a football player, a few topless women, a tattooed beer drinker and a punk with a Mohawk-on-fire having a BBQ party together? There is ‘beer poured all over Sally’, a woman trying to strangle a guy, people screaming wildly or running after each other around the backyard, and a plump blonde seeming to have the longest orgasm of her life, … while Lynch takes his best Neil-Youngish high-pitch crazy howl to narrate the craziness around.
It’s sick and it’s fun, it’s meaningless and it’s terrifying, but if you are used to Lynch’s phantasmagoric cinematic universe, nothing there should really surprise you
