The superb singer songwriter David Bronson has had a musical sort of a year, two tours, months in a recording studio with the likes of Carlos Alomar recording his follow up to The Long Lost, a couple of local gigs I missed, and,not yet at the half way mark, a show and an interview at the Queens Library a week on Saturday… for free.
“Hey New Yorkers – I’m playing a free acoustic show at The Queens Library SAT, MAY 31, 3PM – followed by a Q&A along with my music-making partner, producer Godfrey Diamond Perfect Mixes. Hope to see you there!” goes Bronson’s Faceboook post and anybody who has had the pleasure of speaking with David, can appreciate what a forum like this will bring out in the passionate, loquacious and extremely musically intelligent man.
I’ve been hassling David for months now for some rough cuts off the album, but Bronson is a perfectionist and will release no song before its time! So this is a great opportunity to hear what he has waiting for us. Bronson is both an original and a throwback to an earlier age of popular music, where the sound in a person’s head is all encompassing and needs to be sculpted into the way they want it heard: it has the delicacy of time and purpose. and it will be a pleasure to hear Bronson express this. There is something about Bronson that lives for the sound in his head and that leaves him with just that as his reason and all you can do with him is wait.
The address is above but just take the F Train to 169th Street and you’re there.
