Anyone remember David Archuletta? He was the American Idol kid with the big smile who was runner up In season 7. I don’t know who won that year, but it wasn’t him.
He scored a biggish hit with “Crush” and “Angel”, and at the end of a recent Las Vegas show made a big announcement.
He will be taking a two year break from music to fufill a full time mission for the Church of Later Day Saints.
Archuleta who is 20 years old is heading his calling I suppose. Its tough to balance all that insane fame.
Many will hold him in high regard for this decision but by announcing it in that forum it seems a bit contrived.
It is all well and go to perform evangelical acts but its another to announce them in front of fans who dropped cash to watch you perform.
I have stated this numerous times. Keep your political, religious and life opnion to yourself and entertain me.
David has chosen to receive the slaps on the back for his noble cause. I chose to think its just a way to get his name back in print
