Crosby, Stills & Nash And Tom Morello To Headline A Free Concert To Stop Proposition 32

I can’t believe I have received this message considering it was free:

Hi, We can't wait to see you at the "No on Prop 32" concert on October 3rd at L.A. LIVE. More details will be forthcoming so check your inbox and the www.truthonprop32.org website for frequent updates.

It is signed ‘Working Californians’ among others and the free concert will feature Rage Against The Machine / Nightwatchman’s Tom Morello and oldies-supergroup Crosby, Stills & Nash at the Nokia theater in Los Angeles. Of course, I am sure we will have our quota of workers, teachers, nurses, firefighters and other representatives of the working forces, as well as semi-celebrities to tell us how bad this proposition 32 is… And how bad it is exactly?

It’s always the same story, when we have to vote yes or no for all these propositions, they never appear what they are exactly in their formulation. Proposition 32 promises political reform, but according to the above website, it will affect unions and not corporations, and its opponents are saying that ‘the restriction it places on contributions to candidates by corporations is full of loophole exemptions’. In conclusion, it will not fix the money problem in politics. So it is not a surprise that Morello got involved in this, as he explained to the LA Times:

‘Out-of-state corporations are using Prop. 32 to tilt the playing field even more in their direction and away from real people. This is about oil, tobacco, banking and insurance companies gaining the power necessary to re-write laws to fit their agenda … [of] more tax credits for shipping jobs overseas, weaker consumer protections and relaxing air quality laws.’

And I am not going to tell you about Crosby, Stills & Nash’s activism, since 70s anti Vietnam War protests to the present time, they have always been involved,… but where is Neil? I wouldn’t mind!

And the concert is sold out of course!
