I am more than thrilled by prospect of seeing Craig Finn solo on MWednesday. Much more than Van Halen on Thursday. And to get into fighting trim I figure I'd watch the Hold Steadier on youtube, performing essentially what I'll see. And what did I see??? The answer to a riddle.
Craig Finni s a musical Phil Silvers. I was a huge fan of the terrific commedian and if you have ever seen Phil as Sgt Bilko, you'll note how when the men in the platoon catch him in a con, he turns do them and speaks out of the side of his mouth.
Craig does the same thing between verses. It's like he is confirmfirming or reexplaining a plot point. And it is way cool. Watch him do it here and then watch a clip from the classic sitcom. They truly don't make em like Silvers anymore.
