Coldplay Paid £1 Million For NYE Concert In Abu Dhabi

According to NME, Coldplay was booked for a New Year Eve show in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and also the richest city in the world, and the band was paid £1 million.

At the request of Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Coldplay had accepted to play at the Volvo Ocean Race venue, and each ticket cost,…are you ready?…. £4,300 or $6,630 if you prefer!!

It’s a lot of cash, and Chris Martin has only one honorable way to get away with this: he has to donate the money. I know he has made big donations before, which is great, but he'd better announce that this money is also going to a charitable organization. Can he imagine the reaction from us, the common people seeing these numbers? I don't think he can but this is another story. By the way, it is the second time the band is playing over there, they performed in March 2009 in the gardens of the Emirates Palace to a crowd of some 20,000 fans. How much were they paid then?

Like any show they are gonna play during their upcoming UK tour next summer, I am sure the show was spectacular for Coldplay’s fans, even extremely memorable in the sense "we-are-throwing-out-an-over-the-top-and-colossal-parade-for-no-reason-at-all",except there is the money this time, a big huge package…. All I can say is that the poor man’s U2 is anything but poor.
