Chrissie Hynde's "Dark Sunglasses" Reviewed

she's changed... her place in this world
she’s changed… her place in this world

Does anybody in rock and roll have a better voice for a greater length of time than Chrissie Hynde? On her latest song, off the June 9 Stockholm, “Dark Sunglasses” even a drum machine  can’t harm her.

It sounds like pure Chrissie catchier as hell, smart as a whip, terrific classic rock sweet and spur
Speaking of Chrissie, Morrissey has some great Chrissie stories including this one where a fan was bothering her in a bar and she turned to him and said, “I don’t know you, you don’t know me. Let’s leave it like that!” Classic stuff.

Which leads me back to the song, also classic stuff. At 62 years old, Chrissie exudes sex appeal on this song, it is hot stuff, all hangover and heat with a steady as she goes beat all the way to the light of day. And despite in the way a little backing vocals they aren’t enough to derail the track and a smart guitar lick near the midway point is all the better and when it goes up a key it is even better because it sticks itself the back of your memory valve like a resounding banging gong ending with a last ringing chord to take you home.

I’m a huge Hynde fan but I don’t know her and she doesn’t know me so I guess we will keep it that way.
