Chris Brown May Get His Own BET Reality Show

BET’s own Chris Brown

Honestly I would be totally fine with not hearing from Chris Brown again, ever, but since the infamous troublemaker has been released from jail at the beginning of this month, there are a lot of chances it’s not gonna be the case. As a matter of fact, BET is considering giving him his own reality show. According to Spin and Rolling Stone, which got it from the always-at-the-top-of-Brown-news TMZ, the network has been holding focus groups in the San Fernando valley to get a sense of whether or not the participants – comprising entirely African American women – are interested in a program that would follow the tribulations of Chris Brown’s post-jail life.

Unfortunately for everyone, the majority of these women would watch a show with Chris Brown, in which he tries to stay away from violence and rugs, just to see if he would screw up again! Who are these women? There is no chance I would ever watch, first a reality show, and secondly a reality show with Chris Brown, but will we ever reach the bottom of entertainment garbage? This idea to watch a show just to see someone fall again – because let’s face it there is this perverse anticipation otherwise it won’t be interesting – is so pernicious that I can’t imagine a network starting such a thing, but again we are in reality world, the port-a-potty of TV.

Of course, reality shows are scripted, and badly scripted, there is nothing spontaneous in this world, so if Brown beats up a woman, fights a gay guy or a random person in the street, it will be fake, fake and fake, and Brown will not go back to jail. Actually this show could be his salvation, a big brother watching each one of his steps, but the sad reality is that some people would order a pay-per-view to watch him beat the crap out of his new girlfriend.
