Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has just released a video for their song ‘Let the Day Begin’, the original first single off their new album 'Specter At the Feast', and actually a cover of The Call, a band that is particularly close to their hearts. One of its member, Michael Been, was the father of BRMC’s guitarist and vocalist Robert Been, and Michael tragically passed away in 2010 while he was working as a sound engineer for the band.
If the collage of footage doesn’t totally make sense at the beginning and looks random, you’ll see they have been carefully chosen to reflect the lyrics. From Jack Kerouac to lots of children, from extreme sports and people taking frightening risks to old people celebrating birthdays, it’s the human experience in a nutshell, ‘Here’s to the winners of the human race/Here’s to the losers in the game’… A sort of homemade movie with lots of daring people from all over the world, and lots of motorcycles of course! By the way, the song is rocking and roaring damn hard and it sounds a little bit like early U2 with a more badass attitude.
