What happened to CeeLo Green? For some time, I had the feeling he was cool and funny when he was singing ‘Crazy’ with Danger Mouse as Gnarls Barkley… he had the physic of a bon vivant and he looked totally sweet and harmless, right? Even when he was singing ‘Fuck You’, this sounded like a soulful and infectious Motown hit.
Well, there’s nothing funny and sweet about him anymore, after pleading no contest to felony drug charges for having slipped ecstasy into a woman’s drink (without her consent) in 2012, he tweeted a few things that didn’t really look good on his resume. If you remember about the story, the woman said she had no memory of what happened this night, she was eating with Green and woke up naked in his bed…
So CeeLo tweeted a few things like ‘People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!’…
‘If someone is passed out they’re not even WITH you consciously! so WITH Implies consent’
‘When someone brakes on a home there is broken glass where is your plausible proof that anyone was raped’
How do we even process this? How does he process rape? Because the woman was not conscious, this was not raped? It is what he seems to insinuate and this is the problem with social media, it’s immediately everywhere, on everybody’s screen before you can take a deep breath and think about the consequences…’ I only intended on a healthy exchange to help heal those who love me from the pain I had already caused from this. Please forgive me,’ he wrote on Monday. But it’s too late, you tweeted too fast CeeLo, it doesn’t matter if you have apologized a day later and deleted your Twitter account, or your tweets… ‘The Good Life’, Green’s show on TBS, was canceled on Tuesday.
Why are celebrities so dump? Why do they never learn anything? How many times do we have to go through this, a celeb does something bad – and if Green really raped this woman it is very bad – tweets about it, makes a fool of him/herself, apologizes, deletes the tweets, then some backlash happens. And of course, the tweets are always copied by the Guardian and a million of other sites before they are deleted. So what’s the point?
But let’s go back to fat dump CeeLo, yeah I can call him like this because it’s true, and it’s not his first faux pas, actually, after a few things I have read, I can easily say he is a complete asshole. A reviewer for the Minneapolis City Pages had some feedback from Green himself after a not-too-favorable review of one of his shows: ‘I respect your criticism but be fair! People enjoyed last night! I’m guessing ur gay? and my masculinity offended u? well f—k U!’
Despite the fact that the reviewer is named Andrea (and I assume a girl) this was a pretty low, homophobic and arrogant comment to make! And it is probably one example among many others… Remember, this is the same guy who changed the lyrics of ‘Imagine’ when he sang it for NYE… a really bad sign.
