Ben Kweller. Poor kid comes and goes like a flu. He is the quintessential easy to forget musician.
"Free" is free on iTunes this week. For some reason Ben Kweller makes me uncomfortable. He never sings with the music. The song is a stereotypical spin jam ala 1972. Not a bad thing in a world of auto tune and techno twitter.
Its as if a 30year old guy cant behave like its 40 years ago. I have to say that there is nothing spectacular about this. Its a twangy background sound with a cute little chorus. A forgettable song with forgettable lyrics. This may be Kwellers problem "be sure that you want to be free', I'm sure glad the song was free.
I understand 'soft' songs. I understand that whole hippy groove but this is original hipster done badly. C'mon Kwellzy you can do better than this, and you have been around long enough that you shouldn't still be confused with Ben Folds.
Boring- redundant and well, only for a hardcore fan. The good news it doesn't take up that much room so I don't have to delete it from my iPod.
