I can’t get over the Beck-Kanye-Beyonce story because it gets funnier every hour. After Beck’s double victory on Sunday night at the Grammys, crazy Kanye schooled him at respecting artistry and other gross stuff like this, but the assault was far from being over, it continued on the internet!
Beyoncé’s fans declared war to Beck’s Wikipedia page, yes, you heard that right, and it shows how ridiculous her beehive can be. Apparently, they kept editing Beck’s page for hours, changing Beck’s genres into ‘stealing Grammies’, adding ‘stealing, stealing again, still more stealing, look he’s still stealing’, altering his occupation into ‘Theif [typo included, and it happened several times which shows how illiterate these people are] or ‘life ruiner’, adding into the instruments categories ‘probably a gun, may be a knife, possibly a crowbar, against the Grammy committee’, and this is beeyond ridiculous!
Of course Beck fans didn’t let this to happen and turned everything back to normal each time and as soon as they could. I don’t know how many edits Beck’s page undergoes during a normal day, but this was out of control! An user named Beckstolebeyoncesgrammy (now banned, you can rest reassured) added several times stuff like ‘#JusticeForBeyonce’, ‘#WTFisABeck’, ‘Beyonce’s Grammy Stealer’, under Beck’s picture, and another one named Fuckbeck tried a ‘VIVA LA BEYHIVE’! And it went on and on, you can browse the editing pages on Wikipedia yourself if you are bored. I particularly didn’t like some race-oriented comments like ‘Flop Rock, anti-black folk, alternative trash, alternative Beyoncé should’ve won’… anti-black? Kanye’s post-Grammys discourse had this undertone too, didn’t he mean black artists by ‘real artists’? And that’s really awful! This Wikipedia entry was the worst: ‘an American THIEF STEALING BEYONCES AWARD AND DISRESPECTING BLACK ARTISTRY!!! BEYHIVE WILL GET U’
Wikipedia has banned the bad guys and that’s a good skimming in the beehive, but what does it say about Beyonce’s fans? That many of them are total assholes totally dedicated to their B queen, and that many of them need a real job! Did they expect that their vandalism would stay unnoticed more than a few minutes? But it’s funny when a headline of the Onion becomes reality.
Meanwhile Beck stayed sooo nice after the incident. Interviewed by US magazine, he reacted so politely it was a bit disarming: ‘I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?’… ‘You can’t please everybody, man. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.’
Come on Beck, have a little feisty comment for once! Oh I forgot you’re a nice scientologist, just trained to suppress confrontation. Too bad, I thought the best comment on Twitter was this one, ‘Kanye West told a nigga who plays like 14 instruments that he needs to respect the artistry of a woman who needs 4 writers for one song’… not that I approve the use of the word nigga!
