Poor Barry Manilow! 68-year-old entertainer was hospitalized Monday for surgery to remove fluid and repair torn muscles in his hips.
Before you go all 'yuckin it up' over Barry you have to consider some things. First off this guy has been around forever and although spray tanned and buffed up now he really was quite cool.
His songs like “Copa Cabana” and “Mandy” may be dentist office fodder now but I swear there are not so many artists that you can belt out lyrics from the opening note. This guy is a pure classic.
He has maintained a level of standard perfection, a slight parody perhaps but none the less a legendary performer. At age 68 at least he doesn’t pretend to be20- and after all those mad Vegas stage break downs its no wonder the man needed to go in for repair.
Heres the kicker- hes simply taking six weeks off. He will be back on stage February 2 in Chicago.
