This is what I wrote about the instrumental surf and turf Bakersfield Breakers back in March: “I’ve been meaning to write about the modern day Raybeats, the Bakersfield Breakers, a surf and turf instrumental band who sound like a blast of energy and coolness even during a hot day at Coney Island, but you know how it goes. They are the sort of band you think will always be around because they sound like they’ve always been around and so you keep putting them off.”
Well, if you didn’t listen to me last time around, here are another two chances to catch up with the sound of secret agent men all over the world, rock and roll as it was always meant to be, when the Bakersfield Breakers are playing Route 66 Smokehouse on Saturday from 9 to 12 and playing Jalopy Theater on Sunday at 7.
Here is Bakersfield Breakers Press Release:
Now that Memorial Day Weekend is done, it’s time to get ready for “A Bakersfield Breakers Weekend!” Two big gigs at two great rooms! Sunday night, we’ll be kickin’ off the record release party of our good pals Bourbon Express at Brooklyn’s hippest room (and that’s sayin’ something!) the Jalopy Theatre!
