Avril Lavigne, Chock Full of Herself

Nickleback gurrl

Oh Avril, remember when you said David ‘Boo-ee’ instead of Bowie in that press conference.  Standing in your little wife beater and tie you were a sk8r gurl but now, you’re all grown up.  Avril back in her day was a fabulous performer and a great ‘girl power’ performer.  A lovely voice a strong band and a ‘can do’ sort of positivity.

Today Avril spends more time planning weddings and hanging off arms than any musical rabble rousing.  Shes done, but her days were great so lets not discount that.  Shes on the chat circuit now and this is where it becomes a bore.  When you’re that young and already doing interviews about your ‘glory days’ its sorta sad.

Discussing her image, seems shes feeling sorta smug for her previous image.   ‘I wasn’t the girl baring her midriff with backup dancers and a headset microphone,” she told Nylon magazine. “I came out and had a lot to say with my lyrics, and I played the guitar. I had a completely different getup, stage presence, everything.’

At age 28, Avril is working on her 5th album, her fans are all grown up now- but are they still with her?  Lets face it we hear more about her engagement to Chad Kroeger of the God awful Nickelback.  Who she gushes over endlessly  They have bonded through music and he features on several tracks on her upcoming release.  ‘Lyrically, I pushed myself to talk about different subjects I haven’t talked about before,’ she explained. “I didn’t want to be so simple. I tried to really express myself and go deeper.”

She’s marrying the dude from Nickelback- there is really nothing more to say. It is safe to say any ‘cool factor’ Avril had is now gone if collaborating with him is her current musical path as well.
