I know Jack Phillips pretty well and so have been privy to the arrangements leading up to his performance Tuesday night at Don’t Tell Mamas, and it has been exhaustive. But this is a major concert and Phillips will have a band accompany his performance of songs off Cafe Nights In New York as well as songs from the American Standards songbook. Let’s hope he decides to give us “I Remember You And Paris.

Monday to Wednesday – Dave Davies  – City Winery – The Davies Chronicles is Dave’s words for the residency. Kinks fans rejoice.

Tuesday – Laura Marling – Roulette – With her finest album to date just released and Alyson Camus’ words of praise ringing in our ears, this sold out gig is unmissable.

Wednesday – Fall Out Boy – T5 – Sold out as well but if you read Mary’s rave you might wanna think of Stubhub.

Thursday – The-Dream and Kelly Rowland – Best Buy Theater – 1+ 1 is twoooo

Thursday – Aaron Neville – The Town Hall – His current album My True Story, glorious covers of 1950s rock and roll is enough reason alone to check out the great singer.

Friday – Pitbull – Central Park – Part of the GMA summer morning concert series and I am sure Helen would tell you to wake up early for the 7am gig

Friday – The Mighty Sparrow – BB Kings – The great calypso singer never fails us.

PS: I’ve decided to to do a choice a day any more, but simplify to just choices after seeing nothing that excited me for Memorial Day but three great shows on Tuesday!
