Robert Mawhinney the lead singer of unknown LA band Lights Over Paris scammed millions in his persuit of rock and roll legend. It takes incredible skill to pull this stuff off. It may be morally wrong to bilk the system but noone can dispute that it takes incredible intelligence to do so.
Mawhinney scored more than $11 million in loans from four banks. Prosecutors said he gave lenders statements that claimed he had nearly $8 million in assets, but it turned out his account had less than $10,000, authorities said.
Mawhinney “used the millions of dollars that he fraudulently obtained for the selfish purpose of funding his fantasy of being a rock star,” prosecutors wrote in court documents. Living in a mega swank LA high rise and chillin’ like a big boy, all the time just a no one. It’s perfection it’s rock and roll.
The pseudo star even had loan officers who came to his studio to verify his worth and still failed to realize he was a con man. Wait though he actually is in a legitimate band but by no means a star. He did also convince rapper Game to participate in his video though. It’s amazing how powerful a good con man can be!
