An album, a Broadway musical and now a movie?

As we reported months ago, and according to Hollywood Reporter more recently,  Green Day’s concept album ‘American Idiot’, which has already been adapted into a musical, is now reworked as a movie.

The director of the stage production, Michael Mayer, was hired to shoot the movie and Tom Hanks will be the producer along with Green Day members.
And who will play St. Jimmy in the film? In a New York Times interview, earlier this year, Mayer made allusion that it was ‘a no-brainer’, meaning that the role would go to Billie Joe Armstrong.

The Broadway musical is closing April 24, then will go on the road during the fall.
So it’s now official, Green Day has turned into ABBA… without the songs
