Hardcore Gods Alesana had no problem having a chit chat with Noisecreep to discuss their upcoming album 'A Place Where The Sun Is Silent' which drops Oct. 18th on Epitaph Records. The inspiration for this release is actually Dante's Inferno. The 14th Century poem chronicling a mans descent in to hell.
Considering the genre' and the darkness of the band this is no big surprise as a topic. Alesana has followed loosely works of Poe and dark fairy tales in general. Having seen them last week on the 'Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour', I can tell you first hand that the new album is quite dramatic- but a contradiction to the antics of their stage work. These guys are not Gothic glum live- on the contrary they're insanely upbeat.
I think leader Shawn Milke explains the concept album idea quite well in this quote pulled directly from Noisecreep:
"It was just something we decided early on – to make music that wasn't like the usual stuff that was out there. There are plenty of love songs and breakup songs and all that – and that's fine. But we wanted to go deeper and onto different levels. That's also where we feel our fans want to go, too, so it works out."
Just another unique fact about an amazing band.
