Admiral Radley, the offspring of Earlimart and Grandaddy, has a cool new video made by TV screenwriter-producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach, who is mostly known for his work as writer and producer for the ABC series ‘Lost’ (he has also written for Charmed, Law and Order and the Middleman).
How did this happen? Grillo-Marxuach got the idea to produce a music video when he was at a film festival music video program, he then received hundreds of songs from bands, and finally chose ‘Ghosts of Syllables’ by Admiral Radley, to the band’s profound astonishment. I don’t know if Weezer sent a song, but the Hurley connection did not pay this time.
And he took quite literally the meaning of the song, which is talking about broken hearts and broken things falling apart. A broken man, in a large downtown loft, sees his apartment taken apart piece by piece until there is not even a brick in the wall left. A way to push the metaphor hole-in-the-heart to the extreme, but a haunting little movie played by actor Blayne Weaver.
