The Flaming Lips To Release 'Freak Night', A Film About Their Halloween Concert In Oklahoma City

To celebrate Halloween, the Flaming Lips organized a special event on October 26th, in their hometown: ‘Freak Night’, a free show at Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater, which was advertised as the 'largest costume party in the Midwest'. And now Rolling Stone is reporting that the show was filmed by Oklahoma City-based Delo Creative, and NME is announcing that the movie will be available on the band’s website very soon.

The Flaming Lips sure put Oklahoma City on the map with a show like this one, and for now, we have this trailer that was uploaded on the Lips’ website, with still no date in view for an official release, but Wayne Coyne, always very active on Twitter, wrote:

‘More freaky shit from Freak Night!!! Comes out next week motherfuckers!! Mic on my phone is fucked up!!’

The trailer just shows the band and their grandiose, one by one, arrival on stage, then Wayne Coyne crawling on the crowd in his famous giant bubble, and affronting another bubble filled with a naked woman,… the usual for the Flaming Lips. It was damn cold this night in Oklahoma City, so I hope this girl had a heated bubble! Apparently, no grenade was involved in the making of the movie, but you never know with these guys.
